Biography
Simone Blom is an experienced and nationally and internationally recognised leader in education with over two decades in education, focussed on environmental and science education, across sectors. Simone is also an early career researcher who engages in high-impact projects in educational fields. Simone’s approach to her work is relational, where she excels in workshop facilitation and collaborative projects that require succinct translation of complex concepts and outcomes into accessible, workable ideas and solutions.
Research
Simone is an early career researcher with a steadily growing publication record to complement her PhD completion. Simone’s research interests include environmental education pedagogies and practices, posthuman theories grounded in quantum mechanics, creative and innovative methodologies and science education. Simone is dedicated to improving both pre and in service teacher confidence and competence.
Teaching
Simone has excelled in science and environmental education for more than 20 years, with teaching and leadership experience in the primary, high school, and tertiary sector. Simone has been awarded with a prestigious citation from the Australian Awards for University Teaching and a Vice Chancellor’s citation for excellence in Student Engagement and continues to be highly commended for her work with pre-service teachers.
Community engagement
Simone Blom has successfully collaborated with community groups and government departments to create strong, award-winning environmental and science-based programs that focus on local and global sustainability issues and that increase students' engagement and awareness in science and nature.
