Biography
Professor Brendan Kelaher is a marine biologist with more than 20 years of experience. He is also the Chief Remote Pilot and Chair of the Animal Care and Ethics committee for Southern Cross University.
Research
Brendan studies marine ecology, global change biology and fisheries management. Brendan also focuses on drone-based marine science, including marine wildlife monitoring, 4D habitat mapping, shark bite mitigation and cloud brightening to prevent coral reef bleaching.
Teaching
Brendan teaches into the Bachelor of Science. He is the unit assessor for Marine Megafauna and Drone Technology and lectures into Marine Science and Management.
Supervision
Brendan supervises PhD, MSc and Honours students working on marine wildlife monitoring (dolphins, sharks, rays, turtles, seabirds, etc.), drone-based 4D habitat mapping, fisheries biology, cloud brightening to prevent coral bleaching, and ocean climate change.
