Dan is an Australian mental health nurse with more than 20 years’ experience in this specialty. His clinical experience is in acute, rehabilitation, inpatient and community settings. Dan has held diverse roles in the public mental health services which have included clinical, service evaluation, managerial and leadership roles. Dan has led and collaborated on a number of research projects and clinical trials aimed at identifying and moving toward best evidence-based practice in mental health care. Dan was instrumental in the implementation of a training program for graduate mental health nurses in Northern NSW.
Dan has postgraduate qualifications in mental health, education and law and maintains an interest in professional development through clinical supervision. His current research interests are related to how participation in hard martial arts may change the well-being and quality of life of older persons. This is the subject of a Ph.D. in which he is enrolled.
