Biography
Matt Hill is a Senior Lecturer in the Bachelor of Contemporary Music degree at Southern Cross University. He completed a PhD At James Cook University in the area of music technology and composition. He is a composer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
Research
Matt's research interests encompass collaborative music making practices, music analysis, screen sound as well as creative outputs in solo, band and cross-art form contexts.
Community engagement
Matt was a member of the Board of Directors of the Northern Rivers Conservatorium for 8 years until 2021. He has a strong commitment to supporting careers in the music industry, coordinating two Music Careers Symposia at Southern Cross University. He is a monthly guest on ABC Radio North Coast presenting the 'Sound Lounge'.
Supervision
Matt has supervised numerous Honours and postgraduate researchers in projects related to music composition, performance and music technology.
Teaching
Matt teaches across a range of areas in the undergraduate degree including music theory, musicianship, ensembles, screen sound, songwriting and music industry careers.
