Biography
John Grant has over thirty years of experience in, soil related research, soil interpretation and land and soil mapping.
Research
Current research areas include nutrient cycling and land rehabilitation in agroforestry systems in the Pacific, carbon sequestration in soils, soil nutritional interactions with Bell Miner Associated Dieback in forests, environmental and carbon sequestration benefits of dung beetles and biochar, land rehabilitation and soil parameters and plantation productivity relationships.
Community engagement
John is active in a number of community organisations including Landcare and SoilCare.
Teaching
John has been lecturing in Southern Cross University’s School of Environment, Science and Engineering since 2004 where he runs a range of soil and ecosystem units including ‘Soil Processes’. He also supervises PhD and Masters students.
Other
John's soils expertise is recognized by Soil Science Australia accreditation as a Certified Professional Soil Scientist (Stage 3).
