Teaching Research Nexus
The Teaching-Research Nexus (TRN) can be described as the link between teaching and research - fundamental in higher education. Academics are encouraged to research and publish, but often find it hard to juggle this with the pressures of teaching and other demands.
The challenge is that teaching is not necessarily linked with research objectives and our students are often not part of our scholarly communities. It helps to look for links between research and undergraduate curricula, as this can strengthen TRN at SCU and provide interesting opportunities for our students and staff. A group of SCU academics published two articles (2010, 2012) showing how they tackled the issue of "activating" TRN across the University.
