Student Award Categories

Leadership Award (individual nomination)

In recognition of a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership through enhancing the student experience and fostering positive change at SCU.

Examples of their contribution may include:

  • Outstanding leadership of a club or society, or other significant student focussed activity, either individually or as part of a program run by the University.
  • Significant contribution to the enhancement of relations between SCU and the wider community.
  • Outstanding leadership in social development activities aimed at addressing global challenges.

Contribution to Campus Award (team or individual nomination)

In recognition of a student (or team of students) who has dedicated their time to enhancing the student experience at SCU.

Examples of their contribution may include:

  • Being engaged with issues affecting student life and making positive contributions to the constant improvement of the University.
  • Being a leading example to other students through peer support, motivation and inclusion of others.
  • Contributing to the campus culture and life of SCU either online or on campus.

Community Champion Award (individual nomination)

In recognition of a student who has responded to a community identified need and worked in partnership with that community to build capacity.

Examples of their contribution may include:

  • Achievements in a project that positively impacted a community.
  • Work in a volunteer capacity leading to positive social change or community advancement.
  • Work in an internship leading to positive social change or community advancement.

Entrepreneur Award (team or individual nomination)

In recognition of a student (or team of students) who has demonstrated the qualities of an entrepreneurial spirit. This award is about embracing an innovative culture and promoting a positive outlook for the future.

Examples of their contribution may include:

  • Working with passion and always questioning how something could be done better.
  • Inspiring others to become the best they can be.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to embrace positive change.

Environmental Champion Award (team or individual nomination)

In recognition of a student (or team of students) who has demonstrated excellence, leadership and/or innovation in sustainability. This award celebrates the work of students who are leading the way in making SCU and its communities places where people and nature thrive.

Examples of their contribution may include:

  • A student who has generated significant positive environmental impact on campus, the local community or national/global context.
  • A student who has participated in the advocacy and promotion of issues and solutions to key environmental challenges.

UniMentor Award (individual nomination)

In recognition of a student who goes above and beyond to create a positive impact on the retention of new students to SCU through the UniMentor program. Students who can demonstrate outstanding achievement in this category and can meet the following criteria are encouraged to nominate:

  • The mentor has mentored a minimum of 3 mentees.
  • The mentor has been engaged in the UniMentor program mentoring for a minimum of 2 sessions.
  • The mentor has obtained an endorsement for their nomination from each mentee.

Sportswoman Award (individual nomination)

In recognition of a student who has demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and gone above and beyond to contribute to the success of her sport, an SCU sporting club or a community.

This contribution could be in roles such as:

  • Being an active member of a university sporting club/team.
  • Taking on a sports leadership role (coach, team manager, events coordinator).
  • Leading by example and creating an exceptional inclusive team culture and brand.

Sportsman Award (individual nomination)

In recognition of a student who has demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and gone above and beyond to contribute to the success of his sport, an SCU sporting club or a community.

This contribution could be in roles such as:

  • Being an active member of a university sporting club/team.
  • Taking on a sports leadership role (coach, team manager, events coordinator).
  • Leading by example and creating an exceptional inclusive team culture and brand.

Sports Team Award (team nomination)

In recognition of a team of students who have demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and gone above and beyond to contribute to the success of their sport, an SCU sporting club or a community.

Examples of this contribution could be in roles such as, but not limited to:

  • Running quality events that engage their members in positive activities that promote the relationship between themselves and the University.
  • Promoting positive messages aligned with the University’s values within their club/team.
  • Achieving a level of excellence whilst representing the University in competition.
