Lipton Iced Tea Presents the National Campus Band Competition

Local student bands battled it out at their campus heats for the hotly contended opportunity to play at the State Finals.

State finals saw excitement and nerves grew as all campus winning bands played it out to claim the highly coveted title of State Finalist.

The following bands were chosen as State Finalists and secured the privilege of going to the National Final with all their travel and accommodation expenses paid for:

  • W.A. - Iceage Sugar - University of Western Australia
  • S.A. - Er@ser Description - Adelaide University
  • VIC - Party on My Darling - Victoria University
  • ACT - Moaning Lisa - Canberra Institute of Technology
  • NSW - Jones the Cat - University of Newcastle
  • QLD - Ladyslug - Southern Cross University

The National Final, hosted by Melbourne Polytechnic at the Northcote Social Club, Melbourne, finally came around on the 21st September 2016. Five industry judges were given the challenging task of choosing the band to be crowned the National Band Comp winner for 2016!
Performances were rated on originality, musicianship, stage presentation, recording viability and audience response with each band given 20 minutes to play.
