Kevin took up an associate professor position in April 2008 and prior to this he was Associate Professor in Tourism Studies at the University of Newcastle, NSW. He is also Adjunct Associate Professor in Tourism at Divine Word University, Madang, PNG. He is a geographer whose research interests include nature-based/eco/wildlife tourism as tools for nature conservation; heritage interpretation; zoos as tourist attractions; tourist attraction design; pet keeping; and gay and lesbian identities, tourism and leisure. He has authored or co-authored four books, his latest being Snake Bitten, Eric Worrell and the Australian Reptile Park, co-authored with Dr Nancy Cushing from the University of Newcastle; 12 book chapters; 28 refereed journal articles; and presented more than 35 papers at conferences. He is also co-editing a book with Assoc. Prof. Simone Fullagar from Griffith University and Dr Erica Wilson from SCU titled Slow Mobilities: Experiencing Slow Travel and Tourism, to be published later in 2011 by Channel View Press. Kevin has supervised 8 Honours students, 4 PhD students and is currently supervising 5 PhD students. He is always keen to hear from students interested in Honours, Masters or Doctoral level study. Kevin's leisure interests include collecting natural history books, herpetology/herpetoculture, gardening, travel and bushwalking.
