Jill is a Chartered Accountant who loves helping students learn and inspiring them to pursue a career in accounting. She has been working full-time in the university sector since 1981, following several years in a Chartered Accounting practice where she specialised in taxation and small practice management. She has taught in the US and Australia, her subject areas including taxation, auditing, public practice management, information systems, accounting principles, accounting and financial management for small enterprises, and learning and communication, with class sizes ranging from 3 to almost 800. She currently teaches in the MPA and BBus programs, involving on-campus, distance (print and online) and offshore teaching. In addition to her teaching, Jill has had extensive experience in various distance education roles, including instructional design, editing and proofreading, and managing work units involved in design, development and delivery of learning materials for distance learners, including ATAX Project Controller (CQU) and Head, Open and Distance Learning Unit (SCU). Other managerial roles have included Head, Centre for Accounting and Finance (SCU). Jill has also served on many SCU committees and working parties including Academic Board, Divisional Board, Learning and Teaching Advisory Committee, Academic Staff Promotions Committee, Cooperative Education Advisory Committee, Unit Evaluations User Group, Assessment Working Party, International and Intercultural Working Party, Assessment and Examinations Working Party, and Online Assessment Working Party. Jill's research interests focus on problem-based learning in accounting, online learning for accounting, and the role of questioning in learning accounting. Her personal interests include playing piano, travel photography, choral singing, reading, cross-stitch, and involvement in her local church.
