gI have observed students enjoy the progression of knowledge attainment and skill development and then gain relevant employment at the completion of their degree. Many of the students attribute their success in subsequent employment to the teaching strategy and support for their learning.h
Community Engaged Research

For collaborative research with Lismore and District Womenfs Health Centre to evaluate a community based pregnancy and postnatal group and establish a similar group with Aboriginal women.
gThe opportunity to engage in community research that benefits these women, their children and the wider community is inspiring. The project has been a very successful collaboration between SCU and the community groups.h

For activating citizenship in regional high school students by inspiring their commitment to human rights, social justice and freedom of inquiry through a student led human rights forum.
hThe most significant change this activity generated in my view was how it transformed and enabled students in their understanding and commitment to human rights and social justice. They realised through this event that their agency and voice made a difference.h

For Coffs Harbourfs Young Ambassadors for Design: Promoting confidence, active civics and citizenship, and raising the higher education participation aspirations of young people from backgrounds of disadvantage.
gParticipation in the Young Ambassadors is assisting young people to understand and take part in the local government decision-making processes encouraging active civics and citizenship. The sharing of knowledge and skills between planning and design professionals and young people, can lead to more meaningful and influential contributions from them in planning and urban design processes, and ultimately improves their well-being."
