How to Apply for Advanced Standing

The Advanced Standing process assesses your current skills and knowledge to determine any amount of credit that may be awarded towards units of study in your Southern Cross University (SCU) course.

Studying with an SCU educational collaboration overseas

If studying with an overseas Educational collaboration you should obtain and lodge your completed Advanced Standing Application Form (with supporting documents) with your local SCU Administration Officer.

If you are applying for recognition of prior learning (RPL) on the basis of professional standing, industry experience or expertise (informal learning), use the RPL Portfolio Evidence Guidelines and Form to help you:

  • write statements that accurately describe how your experience and expertise addresses topics and learning outcomes in the units for which credit is sought; and
  • consider the range of evidence (supporting documents) you will need to provide with your Advanced Standing Application to substantiate your statements.

Download, complete and lodge the RPL Portfolio Evidence Guidelines for informal and non-formal learning

The RPL Portfolio Evidence Guidelines and Form is applicable when applying for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) on the basis of non-formal and informal learning related to professional standing, paid or voluntary work experience, seminars, on-the-job training, professional development programs, community projects and leisure activities.

The Guidelines assist you when using the form to write statements that accurately describe how your experience and expertise addresses topics and learning outcomes in the units for which credit is sought. It also helps you to consider the range of evidence (support documents) you must provide with your Advanced Standing Application.
