Research interests/background

I am an agronomist and ecophysiologist who has worked in various fields of agricultural science, mainly in and for developing countries. Since 2008, I have specialized in plant response to stressing environments. I have first focused on climate change issues and worked on thermal stress in rice (oryza sativa) through a multi climatic study.

I am now working on rice nutrition with Dr. Terry Rose, in particular the adaptation of rice to phosphorus (P) deficiency in soils. I've adopted several approaches from physiological responses (such as P remobilisation within the plant) to genetic expression of P transporters in rice to understand involved mechanisms and pinpoint traits of interest.

I also have a strong interest in investigating the potential of unexplored Australian wild rice species for finding new traits of tolerance to abiotic stresses.
