Connecting to eduroam - Mac OSX 10.5

It is recommended that you follow these steps when you are in a SCU Wireless Zone. Ensure that you close all other programs before commencing. You must have a wireless card and drivers installed and operational (ensure you have the Wireless switched on by using your switch/button on your laptop). ITS Staff will not be responsible for hardware or driver issues. Also ensure that you are not connected to the SCU Network using a normal network cable.


Connecting to eduroam using mac OSX 10.5


  1. In the top-right of the Finder menu bar, click the Airport icon and Select Open Network Preferences.



  2. In the Network window sidebar, Select Airport.
  3. Click the Advanced button.



  4. In the Airport configuration window, click the 802.1X tab.
  5. Click the + button.
  6. Select Add User Profile.


  7. Under User Profiles, replace "Untitled" with eduroam.
  8. In the User Name field, enter your MySCU username followed by @scu.edu.au e.g. jsmith1@scu.edu.au
  9. In the Password field, enter your MySCU password.
  10. In the Wireless Network field, enter eduroam.


  11. In the Authentication field, make sure that TTLS is checked and PEAP is unchecked.
  12. Select TTLS and click the Configure button.


  13. In the TTLS diaglogue box under TTLS Inner Authentication pop-up menu, select PAP.
  14. In the Outer Identity field, enter your MySCU username followed by @scu.edu.au e.g. jsmith1@scu.edu.au .
  15. Click OK to close TTLS dialogue box.


  16. In the Airport window, click the AirPort tab.
  17. Click the + button.


  18. In the Network Name field, enter eduroam under the Security drop down list, select WPA Enterprise.
  19. In the User Name field, enter your MySCU username followed by @scu.edu.au e.g. jsmith1@scu.edu.au .
  20. In the Password field, enter your MySCU password.
  21. Under the 802.11X drop down list, select eduroam (if eduroam is not available, select Automatic).
  22. Click the Add button.

  23. In the Airport windows, Click OK.
  24. In the Network window, Click the Apply button then close the network window.

Your computer should now be configured to connect to the eduroam network.When you are within range of the eduroam network double clickon the eduroam connection within your airport available wireless networks list and it will connect.
