As early as possible in your candidature you must attend HDR Orientation, which is a requirement for all candidates.

One of the most important aspects of your candidature discussed at Orientation is setting up peer support networks, especially for students who are studying their degrees in isolation. We strongly encourage you to form a group that meets regularly. The main benefits are to support each other on your postgraduate research journey, to maintain accountability to your research goals, to get support for publication, and to maintain passion and interest in your research.

Orientation is held twice year in February and August. For more information please contact the Graduate School staff.

Three Minute Thesis (3MT)

The three minute thesis (3MT) is a research communication competition developed by the University of Queensland which challenges research higher degree students to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance in just three minutes in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
