Research interests / background

  • 1997: Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours SCU Lismore, Honours Class 2 - Division 1 (An assessment of the sustainability of the beef industry in the Richmond River catchment, NSW).
  • 2007: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) SCU Lismore (Characterisation and Revegetation of Acid Sulfate Soil (ASS) Scalds in Eastern Australia).
  • Honours thesis instilled interested in the interactions between the environmental, economic, physical and biological issues surrounding cattle grazing industry.
  • PhD candidature developed an interest in coastal Acid Sulfate Soil scald formation, persistence and rehabilitation.
  • These two areas of interest intersect because ASS scalds were commonly found in coastal freshwater backswamps where cattle grazing is a major land use.
  • Currently, laboratory manager of SCGS.
