- to conduct research that contributes to the understanding and improved management of our land and water resources with particular reference to the impact of human activity,
- to provide undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing professional education that will equip students and professional to work effectively on geoscience-related issues,
- to provide high-level consultancy services to both government and non-government agencies involved in the management of our land and water resources, and
- to promote awareness within the community and amongst professionals of the value of understanding of geoscience through publication, professional short courses, exchange programs, and other means as appropriate.
