Answers

Q: What should I wear or bring with me on the day?

A: The NSW North Coast and Southern Queensland can present very hot or wet weather during December. For your comfort on the day and when moving between venues on campus, we suggest you may like to bring drinking water, a hat, sunscreen, and your umbrella depending on the weather forecast.

Please note that closed footwear is required for entry to laboratories and studios, which you may be visiting during campus tours and some course information sessions (health, sciences and engineering).

Q: Where do I park?

A: Lismore - free parking is available in the student parking areas marked on the campus maps.

Coffs Harbour - free parking is available in the student parking areas marked on the campus maps.

Gold Coast - free parking is available in the car park on campus.

Q: How flexible is the program if I can't attend all the day?

A: The program at each campus provides some flexibility for you to participate according to the time you have available to spend with us. However, you are encouraged to check the campus program of activities so that you do not miss the session/s relevant to your study plans.

Q: Do I need to register to attend an event?

A: You will need to register to attend either on campus events or a virtual info session. Registration for on campus events will assist us with event planning, and registration for a Virtual Info Session is required so that you receive the log-in instructions and required links to join your nominated session.

Q: How long does the campus tour take?

A: Depending on the campus and the size of the group, usually around 30 - 40 minutes.

Q: How long does the accommodation tour take?

A: Approximately 30 minutes. The accommodation tours will be held directly after the campus tours for guests who are interested.

Q: What do I need to do to join one of the Virtual Info Sessions?

A: Please register online via the SCU Virtual Info Session Eventbrite registration link. You will then receive an email with the link to join the Collaborate Ultra session.

About 10 minutes prior to the session, simply click on the link in your confirmation email or cut and paste the URL into your web browser. This will give you time to sign in and be ready for the session.

Q: What computer requirements do I need to attend one of the Virtual Info Sessions?

A: You simply need a connection to the internet, preferably broadband or wireless and a relatively up to date operating system, along with an internet browser. If you intend to join a Virtual Info Session via smartphone or tablet, please let us know after you have registered so that we can send you a guest log-in to download the Collaborate Ultra app for your mobile device.

Q: Will I be told if I have been made an offer to my course on the day?

A: No. Your invitation to this event does not constitute an offer to a course. It is an invitation for you to get to know us.

Q: I've already accepted my offer, is this my Orientation session?

A: No. Orientation is held the week prior to the start of the session and is packed full of activities and information. Orientation is a good time to get your ID card and find out about text books and course requirements.

Q: I can't attend so how can I find out some course information?

A: Contact the Future Students team online or by phone. Also consider registering to attend our Virtual Info Session.

Q: Should I attend if I am interested in studying a Postgraduate course?

A: No. The SCU Info Days and Virtual Info Sessions are about our undergraduate courses. If you would like to find out more about our postgraduate study options, search and browse postgraduate courses in 2017. You may also like to consider booking a personalised campus tour at a time that suits you, to be guided around the campus of your choice and speak with staff about the course or courses you are interested in. Q: Can I attend more than one event?

A: Yes, you can attend our events at one or more campuses.

Q: Does SCU operate on Daylight Saving time?

A: Our Gold Coast campus operates on Queensland time all year round, which is Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST). During Daylight Saving months, SCU Lismore and Coffs Harbour campuses operate on NSW daylight saving time (AEDT), which is one hour ahead of AEST.
