IDAHOT & Wear It Purple Days

Wearing It Purple at Gold Coast campus 2015 Each year, as part of the SCU Diversity Calendar, Southern Cross University acknowledges;

These days are acknowledged at each campus in a range of ways including;

  • information stalls,
  • displays, and
  • social gatherings.

By supporting these initiatives, the University demonstrates that it is an inclusive and supportive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) students and staff, which has a direct impact on their sense of safety, well-being, ability to succeed and to be productive.

This is a day to reflect on and draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTIQ people. Homophobia and transphobia is directed at and affects the lives of people who don't conform to majority sexual and gender roles.
