About the School of Environment, Science and Engineering
By choosing to study a degree through the School of Environment, Science and Engineering at Southern Cross University, you will have the opportunity to be part of the solution to the environmental challenges of the 21st century.
Within Australian government and private sectors there has been a strategic shift towards sustainability. Climate change is no longer just affecting the environment, it cuts across into economics, infrastructure and government policy-making. Likewise, today's forestry, mining and agriculture enterprises need to ensure environmentally appropriate outcomes for their projects.
Our teaching and research is focused on innovative approaches to these contemporary issues including global warming, salinity, sustainable agriculture and forestry and our graduates are finding their skills are in high demand in the public and private sectors.
Marine Science students have access to the National Marine Science Centre at Coffs Harbour.
Fieldwork is a focus of all our environmental science courses for hands-on environmental practice and students have access to science laboratories, which are fully equipped with advanced analytical equipment.
World heritage rainforests, subtropical forests and stunning coastal and marine ecosystems provide living laboratories for hands-on learning.
Our academic and administrative team pride themselves in offering an unparalleled level of support to our on-campus students and the many students who study with us by distance education.
We look forward to meeting you on campus or online soon.
