SCU Robotics Club
When:Every Tuesday during school terms
Where:

A Block (A2.31), Southern Cross University, Lismore Campus

Time:3.30 - 5.30pm - parents/guardians are responsible for the student's travel arrangements
Cost:

$55 payable at the beginning of each semester. Semester 1: 2 February - 29 June 2017. Semester 2: 20 July - 14 December 2017. Members joining more than three quarters through a semester will still pay the equipment levee, but will have the levee for the following semester waived. For fee information contact treasurer Ben Cummings.

Age group:Open

The aim of the club is to foster interest and skills in robotics. We are a self-help club, open to all. Members with skills mentor other members. There are no formal teaching programmes as such, merely projects that we work towards as a group. Developing resilience and skills in problem solving along the way.

There are two streams to the Southern Cross University Robotics Club:

Pi Stream

Members in the Pi stream work on their own projects based on the Raspberry Pi. Last year we all started on the same project as a learning tool. However, this year each group will continue working on their own individual projects. Including international competition entries, robotic arm development, remote video streaming and a spider based walking robot.

Within this stream we will be looking into developing entries for the RoboCup Jnr Lightweight Soccer League.

EV3 Stream

GenII Soccer

The club will sponsor the development of the Northern Rivers Robot Soccer League. The League will be run under the RoboCup Jnr GenII soccer rules. There are already 4 teams within the club and we hope to foster more.A series of short seminars will be held, during club meetings, to help members develop their soccer skills.

Search and Rescue

Teams develop robots that follow a line, overcome obstacles and rescue a "victim". These teams can participate, as club teams in the regular Search and Rescue workshop/competitions for schools organised by the club.

RoboSumo

Most beginners start here. Two robots in a ring, the first to push the other out wins. Basic building and programming skills are built in this competition. Sumo teams can also participate as club teams in the regular RoboSumo workshop/competitions for schools we organise.
