Centre for Coastal Biogeochemistry Research
The Centre for Coastal Biogeochemistry Research is a major contributor to Southern Cross University's 0402 Geochemistry area, which received the top ERA rating of 5.0 (outstanding performance well above world standard).
The Centre undertakes research on the Global Change issues of nutrient over-enrichment (Eutrophication), ocean acidification, climate change, greenhouse gases and hypoxia. We work in estuaries, rivers and catchments, nearshore coastal waters, mangroves, seagrasses, salt-marshes, wetlands, muds, permeable sands and coral reefs. Our research tools include stable isotopes, process measurements, automated instrumentation, experimental manipulations, material mass balances and ecosystem modelling and comparatives studies.
