Professor Jan Fook: Critical reflection
The School of Arts and Social Sciences and Golden Key SCU Chapter are proud to present international guest speaker Professor Jan Fook
"Critically reflecting in unreflective environments"
We are increasingly expected to be reflective as professionals, academics and students, yet the environments we live and work in seem to be becoming increasingly less reflective. How do we develop and maintain a reflective culture and way of being in current times? This lecture discusses the challenges involved, provides some exercises, and otherwise aims to stimulate some critical thinking and strategizing around this problem.
Professor Fook is currently Visiting Professor at Royal Holloway, University of London. She is most well known for her work on critical social work and critical reflection. She travels extensively delivering workshops on critical reflection. She spent most of her career working in universities in Australia, but for the last 11 years she has lived and worked in the UK and Canada. She has published widely on critical reflection, and much of her work is used internationally.
