Policy and Planning Research for Sustainable Regions

Southern Cross University is partnering with three leading universities in a Collaborative Research Network (CRN) program, in three key areas of research: the wellbeing of children and young people; developing the nursing workforce; and improving regional economic sustainability.

The research is being funded by the federal government as part of the CRN program. The program aims to strengthen research capacity and increase performance outcomes by facilating collaborations between institutions with complementary strengths and capabilities.

Southern Cross University is partnering with the University of Queensland, the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the University of Sydney.

The multidisciplinary project will support and progress several clearly defined areas of emerging research strength at Southern Cross University (SCU) that collectively comprise policy and planning research for sustainable regions.

The project involves three related elements linked:

  • Social sustainability (Children, Young People and Families)
  • Social sustainability (Health/Nursing)
  • Economic sustainability
